Volunteering

If you're interested in volunteering either at the rescue in a hands on role, or in other ways such as helping at events, fundraising etc please use the link below to download our volunteering forms. Once the forms have been returned we can arrange training.  Please see below for an outline of the roles available.

Due to the nature of our work and for insurance reasons we do not offer volunteer places for anyone under the age of 18.

We are unable to accept Duke of Edinburgh placements or work experience that is for a week or 2 weeks at a time due to the hours the rescue is manned.

The only placements we can accept are for a morning (9am - 1pm) on a weekly basis.

For the Care Assistant roles we ask for a commitment of 42 weeks of the year, this is to ensure we have enough cover during the busy months between April and December, when we can have over 100 hedgehogs in the rescue. We need to be able to man the rescue between 9am and 7pm (6pm in the winter months) , we take in hedgehogs 365 days of the year.

Transport Volunteer

Transport volunteer's are needed to either collect hedgehogs from finders who have no transport and bring them to the rescue in Brockworth, or can include vet runs taking or collecting hedgehogs from our vets in Warden Hill.

As a rescue we also cover the Forest of Dean and Cotswolds and need more transport volunteers in those areas as well as in the Cheltenham and Gloucester areas.

Our Transport volunteer form can be downloaded below. We're still adding and setting up more volunteers, as everyone will be issued with a lanyard to show as ID when making a collection. These will be posted to you.

As a volunteer with a completed volunteer form you will be covered by our public liability insurance but you will need to make your car insurance aware that you volunteer for us to insure that you are covered if involved in an accident while transporting. It has never been an issue but not making them aware could invalidate a claim.
